Country Dancing

The term "Country Dancing" is somewhat misleading. The word "country" in this case is not used in the rural sense, rather it is a corruption of the word "contra".

In "Contra Dances" the dancers are grouped in sets and are positioned so that they are opposite (contra to) their partner.
